Danchu is a happy go lucky male jindo mix who came to the shelter as a sweet little puppy back in 2020. His full name in Korean is actually “danchukumong(단추구멍)” meaning “buttonhole,” which the shelter staff named him because of his adorable tiny round eyes that look just like holes in a button. Danchu is a friendly doggy who loves people, dogs, and life! Ever since he was young, Danchu has had this funny habit of reaching his WHOLE arm out through the bars of his kennel to try and grab any human friend that walks past him without saying hello!

Here is what a volunteer had to share about their time with Danchu:
“Danchu was a sweetheart from the get go. He loves giving kisses and enjoys cuddles. Danchu is a medium energy dog. He loves a good run just as much as he enjoys the slow stroll sniffing his surroundings. Danchu enjoyed the water but not until his kennel mate Emma went in first did he see the fun in splashing around. During our walk, he showed a lot of interest to a smaller dog walking nearby us. He would stop walking, look at them and really wanted to approach them to play. He showed no aggression. Danchu also loves treats!”

This delightful scamp has stayed friendly and optimistic despite being at the shelter for too long now, and he has more than proven that he is ready for a forever home! As long as he gets lots of playtime and love, Danchu would do great in most homes. He loves to spend time with his doggy friends at the shelter, so if you are looking for a playmate for your current fur family member Danchu might just be who you are looking for! If you would like to welcome Danchu into your family, please send us an adoption application and we’ll help you get started on the adoption process.
