Oscar
Oscar
Oscar the gentle giant is a 25kg male jindo mix. Despite his size, he has the most wholesome puppy dog eyes and floopy ear tips! He is a mellow sweetheart who is surely destined to be the king of someone’s couch. Oscar has been at the shelter since 2021, and we are absolutely astounded at how much his personality has transformed and opened up since he first arrived.
It’s hard to believe that when Oscar first arrived, he was too scared to even let human hands come near him, let alone come out of his kennel for a walk. We slowly gained his trust through his love of treats, and after just a few months he learned that humans are actually safe and fun, despite what he had learned about people in his pre-shelter life. These days, Oscar just loves human attention! He is the most gentle soul, he walks SO well on the leash, he sits for treats while wagging his big alligator tail, and he gives the sweetest tiny little kissies from his big giant snout!
Here's what one of our volunteers has to say about Oscar:
"When I first picked this boy Oscar up from his kennel, I was told that he is quite timid. And he certainly was for the first part of his walk. But then the treats came out and he came close to pick up his treats. And then we got to the river, and another volunteer started playing with Oscar, splashing water on him. Oscar didn't know what to expect, but he was certainly happy as he arrived back to the shelter since he started giving kisses. Everyone was so excited to see how far this boy has come, and how friendly he can be. Oscar just needs a little bit more attention, a little bit more training and he will be really perfect. Oscar is a 3 year old Jindo that can really use a new home."
Oscar is so ready to be part of someone’s family and we are seeking a forever home that will give him the love he deserves. Oscar still prefers a gentle approach from unfamiliar people, and he may do best in a quieter home without young children. If you would like to make Oscar the doofy sweetheart your new fur family member, send us an adoption application and we will get you started with the adoption process!

Bahavior with cat or children
Our dogs are rescued from meat farms or reported from the street and brought to our shelter. That's why we do not have information on how they behave with cats or children.
-
Cost of the adoption
YAPA does not gain any profit from the dogs' adoption. Adopters need to cover the transportation and documentation fee for the government.

Vaccinations and spaying
All our dogs are spayed and vaccinated by an approved vet before being sent to the adoptor. The costs of the procedures are covered by our donations.
