Everypawdy, meet Rover!
Rover is a male jindo mix that was born in 2016 and weigh around 25kg. Our shy boi Rover came to the shelter in 2019 and for a very long time he was too nervous to come out for walkies One day our hearts were warmed when he finally trusted us enough to come out on a very wary walk with a couple of our volunteers! We are hoping Rover continues to open up and find a furever home who can give him the time and space for him to become the loving dog we know is hiding underneath his scared shell.
Here’s what a one of our volunteers had to say about Rover:
“While Rover’s features are mostly Jindo, he has a pretty black stripe running down his tail which may mean he has some shepherd in him. Rover has clearly been through a lot, as he is quite fearful of humans and seemed to be pretty interested in making attempts to bolt off into the mountains. He was cautious around other dogs as well. When walking Rover, we doubled up his leash so that he could walk with us while keeping a distance that was comfortable to him. We took it slow on our walk and just let Rover be Rover, sniffing and standing and sitting and munching grass as he chose. With gentle coaxing, he was happy to follow us in the direction we led him. We had to watch our movements carefully, as he was quite startled by any sudden movements we made. Rover was content simply sitting in the shade with us at a moderate distance and enjoying the breeze. My heart goes out to this good boy, as it is obvious that all he needs is a permanent companion whom he can learn to trust and be comfortable with. Rover making progress really comes down to having a home and a human - let’s get him what he needs to shed his fear and learn to love again”
If you would like to adopt Rover, please send us an adoption application and we’ll help you get started on the application process.
